What to Expect From Your 15-Mins Wellbeing Call
(And How to Make the Most of It)

Booking the call is often the hardest part. If you've reached this point, some part of you has already decided that things matter enough to talk about, and that alone deserves acknowledgement.

So let's make the next part easier: what actually happens on this call, so you can walk in feeling ready, not unsure.

What the Wellbeing Call Actually Is

The 15-mins Wellbeing Call is a short, warm conversation to help understand each other better. Its purpose is simple: to understand, broadly, what's bringing you to us, and to help match you with the right kind of support, whether that's individual therapy, a specific approach like CBT, a family or couple session, or something else entirely.

Think of it as a first handshake, not the whole relationship. We're listening for the shape of what you're carrying: not every detail, not the full history, not the story from the beginning. Just enough to point you toward the right person and the right path.

What It Isn't

It isn't your first therapy or counselling session. It isn't the place to walk through everything that's happened, year by year. And it isn't a space where you need to "explain yourself" fully to be taken seriously. You don't need to justify why your struggle is significant enough to be here. Your presence during the call is valued. Simply being here already tells us enough.

This distinction matters, because it's completely natural to want to explain everything at once as many people carry their story for a long time before they finally say it out loud to anyone, and once that door opens, it's human for everything to want to come out together. If that happens to you, please know there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It simply means the real, deeper work belongs in the therapy room itself, with the time and space it actually deserves, not compressed into a short call that's meant to help us match you well.

A Note on Your Pre-Assessment Form

If you've already filled out the pre-assessment form we shared with you - thank you. Genuinely. That form already gives our team a meaningful sense of your background and what's been going on, which means the Wellbeing Call doesn't need to start from zero. It's part of why this call can stay short and focused, rather than needing to cover everything from the beginning.

If you haven't had a chance to fill it in yet, there's no judgment at all. We understand that life gets overwhelming and forms are easy to put off. However, if you missed this important step as you were not aware of it, we'd gently encourage you to complete it before your call. It genuinely helps us listen better and guide you more precisely once we're speaking, rather than spending part of our time together gathering information that could have been shared beforehand.

Unless already done so, fill out your confidential Pre-Assessment Form by using the button at the bottom of this note.

How to Prepare, Gently

You don't need to prepare a presentation. A few honest thoughts written down beforehand can help both of us maximise the benefit this time offers:

  • One or two sentences on what's bringing you here right now. Not the whole history, just the headline statement "I've been feeling anxious and low for a few months because of......." is enough.

  • What you're hoping for. Are you looking for someone to talk to regularly? Support for a specific relationship or family situation? Help for your child? A general sense of "I don't feel like myself" is a completely valid answer too.

  • A glass of water and a tissue box, within reach. We understand that while talking about yourself, even briefly, can bring emotions closer to the surface than you expect. Having these nearby means you can remain present in the conversation instead.

  • A pen and a notepad. This call often ends with a next step: a suggested approach and offering calendar availability for your first session with a day and time. Jotting these down as we go means you leave the call with clarity, not just a feeling, and nothing important gets lost once the call ends and daily life resumes.

That's genuinely all that's needed. Everything else can wait for the room built for it.

That's genuinely all that's needed. Everything else can wait till your personalised care plan is prepared.

A Gentle Note on Emotion

If you find yourself getting emotional on this call, or the story wants to spill out further than you intended, that's alright, and it's more common than you'd think. We will always meet you with warmth, not a stopwatch. However, part of how we care for you well is by gently guiding the conversation toward what we need to know to connect you with the right support quickly, so that the fuller story, the one that deserves real time, gets explored properly in preparation for the next step - your structured therapy or counselling session (if and/or when you choose to proceed with Shaping Destiny).

If you notice yourself narrating everything in detail, take it as a caring sign, not a correction: it may simply mean that finally being asked has opened something worth bringing into a fuller session soon.

We're Glad You're Here

There is no right or wrong way to begin your 15-mins Wellbeing Call. You may feel composed, uncertain, emotional, or somewhere in between. We are neither evaluating you nor judging you. We're simply listening closely enough to guide you well.

Unless already done so, book your Wellbeing Call by using the button at the bottom of this note.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I end up sharing more than I planned to? That's completely alright. We'll listen with care, and gently help bring the conversation back to what's needed to guide you to the right support. The rest of your story has a home in your first proper session.

How long does the Wellbeing Call usually take? Typically, 15 minutes is enough to understand your needs and answer your questions, without needing to cover everything at once.

Will the same person who does my Wellbeing Call also be my therapist? Normally but the call's purpose is to match you thoughtfully, which sometimes means a different, more suited therapist continues with you from the next session onward.
